Fully Funded Scholarship at Swansea University - EPSRC PhD

Fully Funded Scholarship at Swansea University/Epsrc Phd Scholarship: Design Of Smart Materials (Batteries, Sensors, Coatings) For De-Manufacture In A Circular Economy (Rs94)

Project description:

This Ph.D. will appeal to those eager to impact how advanced materials will be utilized in a sustainable economy.

The position will involve a balance of laboratory work and the development of a model of how functional coating materials react during recycling procedures. This research seeks to increase the recyclability of electronic coatings, such as those used on batteries, sensors, and other electronic components.

Physical, chemical, and electronic materials characterization techniques and relevant modeling tools will be covered in the training.

The Ph.D. role is part of the Swansea University-led TREFCO project, with eight industrial partners, including battery makers, recyclers, material suppliers, and equipment manufacturers. There will be the option to visit project partners in the United Kingdom and Europe and funds to present findings at international conferences.

Birmingham University is a co-collaborator, and the chosen candidate for this Ph.D. will be required to work closely with Birmingham scholars. The project is located within two research centers at Swansea University, the Welsh Centre for Printing and Coating and SPECIFIC, so the successful candidate will have the advantage of working in (and learning from) a multidisciplinary team of academics and industry partners consisting of scientists, engineers, and life cycle analysis experts.
