MEXT Scholarship 2023 Application Process – Fully Funded

In line with the demands for fully-funded scholarship opportunities, the MEXT Japan 2023 Program is again accepting applications for its scholarship program. This scholarship is for international students who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or doctoral degree in Japan.

The MEXT scholarship will cover tuition, housing, a monthly stipend, and round-trip airfare from your home country to Japan.

MEXT Scholarship 2023 Description:

  • Course Level: Undergraduate / Masters / PhD / Training
  • Institution(s): Japanese Universities
  • Location: Japan
  • Courses Offered: All courses offered by Japanese universities, ranging from Social Science to Engineering, Medicine to Health, Arts to Humanities, etc. There are no restrictions on Academic Fields.
  • Program Duration: Bachelor: 4-5 Years, Master’s: 2-3 Years, Doctoral: 3-4 Years

Benefits of the MEXT Scholarship 2023

  • Monthly Stipend Allowance 
  • Education Fees: MEXT will pay the Entrance Examination Fee and University Tuition Fee.
  • Traveling Allowance: MEXT will pay for your round-trip airfare from your home country to Japan. The airline ticket for the flight will be for Economy class.
  • Universities provide international students with residence halls as housing.

Eligibility Criteria for MEXT Scholarship 2023

  • Language Required: English
  • All global countries are eligible.
  • Applicants must hold citizenship from a nation with diplomatic relations with Japan.
  • A candidate with Japanese citizenship at the time of application is ineligible.
  • For Undergraduate Students: You must be at least 17 years old and younger than 25 years old, and you must have completed 12 years of schooling or courses at a school equivalent to a high school (includes prospective graduates)
  • For Master’s and Doctoral Students: You must be under 35 and a college graduate (includes prospective graduates). Alternatively, you must have completed 16 or 18 years of schooling.
  • For Teacher training students, you must be under 35 and a college or teacher training college graduate. You must have at least five years of teaching experience in your country’s primary, secondary, or teacher training institutions.
  • For Japanese Studies Students, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 30. Applicants must be enrolled as undergraduate students in faculties or schools that major in Japanese language or Japanese culture at a university outside of Japan at the time they come to Japan, and they must be enrolled at their home institution when they return.

How to Apply for MEXT Scholarship 2023?

  1. Locate the Japanese Embassy or Consulate for your country.
  2. Visit the website of your country’s Japanese Embassy. The MEXT scholarship can be found on the Education / Scholarship tab.
  3. Download and complete the MEXT scholarship application form.
  4. Send the necessary documents (listed below) to the Japanese Embassy in your country.
  5. The Japanese Embassy shall administer a written exam.
  6. Find examples of the written Exams Here.
  7. After that, candidate interviews will be conducted.
  8. The successful applicants will be notified via email or on the embassy’s website.

Documents Required for MEXT Scholarship 2023

  1. Scholarship Application Form for MEXT
  2. Authenticated the highest degree using official stamps.
  • Bachelor’s degree applicants must have 12 Years of Education
  • Bachelor’s degree for applicants to master’s programs
  • Master’s degree applicants to doctoral programs
    Note: If the degree is not in English, an English translation that has been notarized is required.

3. The highest degree transcript bearing official stamps of verification. (Including Grading procedure)

6. Curriculum Vitae (CV) (for research students)

7. Photographs

8. Study plan or purpose statement. The study plan has been composed in English. Basic content must include application motivation, education/research background, and intended APU study. (for graduate students)

9. Those students whose language institute was conducted in English may submit an English Proficiency Certificate from their home university and are exempt from the Language Test.

10. Academic thesis or relevant publications (for research students)
