Performance and Elite Sports Scholarships 2023 for International Students
International students can apply for Performance and Elite Sports Scholarships 2023, which are partially sponsored scholarships. Students at Cardiff Metropolitan University can apply for these scholarships, which are open to undergraduate and graduate students. Applicants for these scholarships will receive up to a £5,000 discount on their program tuition fees and access to a wide range of high-quality facilities.
Student-athletes and coaches at all levels (including performance and coaching) are encouraged to apply for the Elite Sport Scholar Award. To be eligible to receive the prize, a student must have a mix of academic merit and sporting accomplishments.

Elite Sport Scholar Award provide the recipient with the following benefits:

- Support from the fields of sports science, such as nutrition, psychology, physiology, and biomechanics.

What are the Eligibility Criteria for the Performance and Elite Sports Scholarships?
There are a few things to keep in mind when applying for the Elite Sport Scholar Award. At least one of the following conditions must be met:
- study or begin a course of study at the University of Cardiff (any course).
- competing and contributing to the university’s BUCs goals in a sport recognized by the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS).
- must be at the top level of their sport (e.g. national/international/professional) or be competing at an international level.
- must have their NGB coach or the University’s coach in their sport approve them.
- To be eligible for the scholarship, students must represent Cardiff Met at the BUCS championships.
- Cardiff Metropolitan University’s School of Sports and Health Science expects its students to represent the school at open events and in marketing efforts.
- If you don’t, you could lose your scholarship.
- Full-time students must have a Cardiff Metropolitan University Student ID Card to receive a catering or general campus stipend from Cardiff Metropolitan University.
- Years two and three of the award are only paid out if the student successfully completes the following year of study.
- The Performance Sport Panel will evaluate your athletic progress in years 2 and 3 before determining whether or not you are eligible to receive the award in those years.
- Consideration may be given to those who plan to complete a four-year program (including the Foundation) and those who plan to complete a part-time or postgraduate program.
- All re-sit credits must have full mitigating conditions to qualify for the award.
- The Academic Handbook provides more information on mitigating situations.
- Once a year, you’ll need to submit an application form to the Head of Performance Sport. This award is not available to students attending franchise colleges.
- Bursaries and scholarships may be available at the college, so please contact them for further information.
- Elite Sport Scholar and Postgraduate Scholarship recipients cannot both be you at the same time.
- To help students realize their full potential in their chosen sport, the reward package will be personalized to their needs.
- An academic member of staff, the Head of Performance Sport, and the Students Union Sports Manager will be on the panel that awards the scholarship.
